System Settings

System Settings have several sub menus to make it possible to configure various aspects of the StoredSafe appliance.

Main> System Settings>

1. Network Settings

Various aspects of system administration tasks related to network can be accomplished from the Network submenu, such as:

  • Setting an IPv4 or IPv6 address
  • Setting an IPv4 or IPv6 default gateway
  • Adding IPv4 or IPv6 static routes
  • Manage active and persistent IPv4 and IPv6 firewall rules
  • Configure DNS resolver settings
  • Configure SNMPv3 (Users, Encryption and authentication settings)
  • Configure NTP (Peers, Change timezone)
  • Setting up remote syslog
  • Configure hostname
  • Manage network card settings (View link status, Set duplex & speed)
  • Ping or traceroute to a specified address

2. GUI Settings

Manage configuration settings related to the Web GUI

  • Configure the GUI timeout (View or Change timeout)
  • Configure the Message-of-the-day (MOTD) text (View or Change text)

3. Backup Management

Configure settings needed for backups

  • Manage the PGP keys used to encrypt the backups (Create, List and Export public key)
  • Manage the SSH keys used to authenticate the backup transfer (Create, List and Export public key)
  • Configure all aspects of the backup sub system (When to backup, Where to transfer backup, What PGP and SSH keys to use)
  • Perform backup tests (Manually invoke backup creation and transfer)
  • Perform a full system restore from a system backup

4. Storage Management

Manipulate attached USB disks and examine amount of free space on the disk

  • Dump the content of an attached USB stick
  • Show content of "/var/root" on the appliance
  • Copy content from "/var/root" on the appliance to an attached USB stick
  • Mount and umount USB disks

5. Service Management

Makes it possible to manipulate (Start & Stop) or check on the status on different system services

  • Web server used for the Web GUI
  • NTP service used for time synchronization
  • SNMP server used for system monitoring
  • Configure the REST API

6. Firmware Management

Manage all aspects of installing a new firmware for the StoredSafe appliance

  • Show current firmware version
  • Validate and install new firmware
  • Select primary and secondary boot image
  • Delete boot images
  • View or install StoredSafe public PGP key used to sign new firmware and system features

7. Database Maintenance

Used to perform database maintenance, such as

  • Check consistency of the database
  • Try to repair inconsistencies in the database

Only to be used upon direction from StoredSafe staff

8. Appliance Management

  • View or update system features (Objects, Templates & Filesystem Policies)
  • Audit the filesystem according to the installed File System Policy
  • Reboot or halt the appliance
